THE WOMAN

By D. LORENZ

It was a filthy corner. Broken glass, tin cans, empty bottles, yellowed bits of newspaper, and piles of rags were strewn everywhere over the rat infested alcoves. A slight movement in the shadows drew my attention to one of the piles of rags. The ags changed before my eyes .... a living, human form. A moment passed and the grotesque form began stumbling out of the rubble. Yellow, stained fingers were clutching frantically at a ragged, buttonless coat in a futile attempt to make it stretch further.

Although there was no sex apparent to the casual observer the shapless form was a woman; her lost feminity was the price of a lifetime spent in the streets. Her bloodsot eyes sat in hollows so dark that they seemed bottomless. There was no longer any hope of laughter in her yes, when she could look, even with contempt, on the sea of people that passed her corner. The coarse features of her face were lined from the effects of a lifetime of hard living; her skin was caked and streaked with the dirt of the streets. All were overcast by a purplish blue which gave her a flushed, overheated appearance.

Suddenly there was a man's voice mouthing obscenities and something about a drink. She turned and started toward the ¡Voice.

JUST FOR FUN

The following was compiled by one of the staff who asked an assorted number of gays what they thought was either "in" or "out." Given the general transiency of trends, don't be surprised if half of the items on the "in" list are "out" by the time you read this...Such is the score of the trend watcher...Anyway, just for fun, here's what we think is happening now:
